Hello!

I know it has been wayyyyy to long since I have written anything on the blog. To be perfectly honest each and every time I have sat down to write, words just wouldn't come. I think maybe I just needed a little time away. We were also super busy with the kid's schedule this summer. Our son's tennis team came in second in state this summer sooo I spent much of my time court side.

Usually, I am on the blog everyday, writing and checking in on my friends, and have done this for the past several years  Since January, several of my sweet young friends have left this life and our now rejoicing in heaven. Mallory 21 complications from liver transplant, James 17, accidental drowning, Sussana 4yo childhood cancer, Lindsay 3, heart transplant complications.  James is the only one I knew personally, but the rest I knew through the blog world and fell in love with them and their families and followed them religiously.  I continue to lift their families up in prayer.

James and my oldest are the same age. I will never forget the first time that I laid eyes on him.  He was about 2 and the cutest little, cotton top boy ever, filled with endless curiosity and boundless energy. Our kids spent many days running the church halls, going to Bible studies, birthdays and summer camps together. From day one he was special.  He enjoyed life, people and he loved the Lord. He had a huge smile and hug for everyone he came in contact with. Also, he had a way to make everyone feel special when he was around them.

I have been blessed to spend a lot of time with James' mom over the months since his passing. Her words continue to run through my mind. "I just don't want to miss anything the Lord wants to teach me during this time." They have not slowed down for one minute. God has opened many doors for them to share James' story and his deep love for Jesus and for others. As we have come to realize, the story of his life (and its impact) is far from over. I think that I mentioned in an earlier post that James had wanted to walk on to the Georgia football team this year. He was accepted for early admission for Georgia and was so excited about going there. Coach Richt made a visit to James'school and even though Coach Richt was not there to recruit James, he told Coach Richt that he wanted to walk on the team that year.  During his funeral a note was read from Coach Richt that James had indeed  made the team and a Georgia jersey was given to his parents.  Several weeks, ago when Georgia played South Carolina the team was wearing #23 on their helmets in honor of James.  James' family was invited to be guest of Coach Richt for that game.

We continue to witness the lives that are being touched and transformed by God through the life of one teenage boy who loved God and loved people.

I am trying to back in the groove of blogging again so please know that I will be back soon :)

  1. I'm so glad you're back! James's story was so touching and so was His mother's selfless prayer that she won't miss what God is trying to teach her...that's amazing and REAL faith! Love ya!
